Buhari Saved Nigeria from Collapse, Says Ebri

Former Governor of Cross River State, Mr. Clement Ebri, has stated that
the emergence of Muhammdu Buhari as Nigeria’s President after the 2015
general elections saved the country from complete collapse.
According to Ebri, who presided over government affairs in the state
between October 1991 and November 27, 1993, the country was at precipice
when Buhari took over the leadership of the country on May 29, this
year.
Ebri who spoke on Thursday evening in his community Mkpani, Yakurr
Local Government Area said: “ If the government had not changed hands
and somebody like (Muhammadu) Buhari took control, the country would
have gone down.
“There was not future there (PDP). I thank God I never pitched my tent there.”
The former governor said during the period of the previous
administration in the country, crude oil sold for about $140 dollars per
barrel, but instead of using the huge financial resource that accrued
to the country, they plundered it.
He said at the moment, despite the fact that crude oil was selling for
about $28 per barrel, Buhari was working round the clock to fix the
country and get it to its pride of place.
Ebri also commended the President for launching war against corruption
in the country, saying that Nigerians knew that it was no longer
business as usual as public servants were now afraid of stealing from
public treasury.
Ebri who formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) said he
would contribute his quota by joining hands with Buhari and others in
rebuilding the nation.
“I thought deeply before joining the party. I looked before I took this giant leap. As I join the party, I am very proud of it.
“I am prepared to join all other people to ensure this problem is fixed and Nigeria is returned to its pride of place
“I am here to serve. I am not here for appointment but I want to be part of the change agenda.
“Be patient with Buhari. We will fix this country. I promise to be a
law abiding member. I am coming into the party with a lot of supporters.
I urge that there should be no discrimination”, he stated.
The former governor said the current administration in Cross River
State was a one man show; hence the state was rapidly dwindling in
fortunes.
He stated that the APC in the state would ensure that it worked assiduously to get Cross River to the right path.
Ebri urged the people of the state and his supporters to join hands to salvage Cross River State from the PDP government.
“We want to form a rescue force to get ourselves out of the situation
we have found ourselves today. Only an APC government can get us out of
the doldrums we find ourselves today.
Thank God I never pitched tent with the PDP. There was so much
impunity. In Cross River for instance one person would determine
everything. We don't want a government of impunity. I will always fight
impunity.
“We want a government that would carry everyone along and that is what APC stands for.
“Cross River is collapsing because it was a one man show”, Ebri said.
